Action of bromine on some unsaturated anilides

Abstract

The problem of the addition of halogens to ethylene compounds has been approached in the past in many different ways and numerous factors have been found to play a part in the reaction. In the course of an historical account of the work done, these factors have been arranged under the following headings :- (1) Kinetics. (2) Influence of the halogen. (3) Environment of the double bond. (4) Influence of solvents and of catalysts.
