Abstract:
The syn thesis and chemistry of twenty-five novel β-hydroxyimine nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes formed by reaction of 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-pentan-2-one with bis(diamine) or mono(triamine or tetramine) complexes are described. Infrared, (d-d) visible spectral and magnetic data is included.
The preparation, chemistry and some physical properties of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes of the novel triazamacrocycles, 2,4,4-trimethyl-1,5,9-triazacyclododec-1-ene; 2,4,4,9-tetramethyl-1,5,9- triazacyclododec-1-ene; 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,5,9- triazacyclododecane and 2,2,4,9-tetramethyl-1,5,9- triazacyclododecane are described along with the syn thesis of trihydrobromide salts of the later two macrocycles. Visible (d-d) spectral data is indicative of five co-ordination in solid state and in solution for almost all metal(II) derivatives and temperature dependent magnetic studies on copper(II) complexes show antiferromagnetic exchange effects indicative of dimeric structures. Infrared data is discussed for all complexes.
