dc.description.abstract The syn thesis and chemistry of twenty-five novel β-hydroxyimine nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes formed by reaction of 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-pentan-2-one with bis(diamine) or mono(triamine or tetramine) complexes are described. Infrared, (d-d) visible spectral and magnetic data is included. The preparation, chemistry and some physical properties of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes of the novel triazamacrocycles, 2,4,4-trimethyl-1,5,9-triazacyclododec-1-ene; 2,4,4,9-tetramethyl-1,5,9- triazacyclododec-1-ene; 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,5,9- triazacyclododecane and 2,2,4,9-tetramethyl-1,5,9- triazacyclododecane are described along with the syn thesis of trihydrobromide salts of the later two macrocycles. Visible (d-d) spectral data is indicative of five co-ordination in solid state and in solution for almost all metal(II) derivatives and temperature dependent magnetic studies on copper(II) complexes show antiferromagnetic exchange effects indicative of dimeric structures.
