Abstract:
Synthetic peptide-like ligands N,N'-bis-(1,2 aminoethyl)-malondiamide, N,N-bis-(1,2 aminopropyl)malondiamide and their nickel(II) complexes (NiH-2AEM and NiH-2 1,2 APM) are prepared and characterised.
The rates of the substitution reaction of these complexes with ethylenediamine and ethylenediamine tetracetic acid (EDTA) were studied from pH 7.50 to 12.00 at 25°C and ionic strength = 1 Using the stopped flow technique and conventional photometric method. The rate constants are obtained.
A mechanism based on the kinetic results obtained is proposed.
