Abstract
Traffic congestion is a serious problem for the Auckland Region and has been a concern for both planners and the public since the middle of the twentieth century. Rapid transit is one solution that has been suggested many times, but not implemented. It is the solution that the Auckland Regional Council is currently trying to implement. Yet locating information on previous proposals for comparison is an arduous task as the sources of information have been produced, and are held, by a wide variety of organisations and individuals. This selective bibliography collocates information in a variety of formats relating to previous rapid transit proposals from 1950 to 2000. This paper based bibliography contains one hundred and eighty two entries arranged both chronologically and by format. Retrieval is facilitated by the provision of author, title and subject indexes.
