Abstract:
A comprehensive bibliography of the immigration of the Dutch to New Zealand, covering the period 1900-2000. The scope of the bibliography encompasses material published in the twentieth century, relating to the experiences of the Dutch who emigrated to New Zealand, from the Netherlands or the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia). Themes that the bibliography focuses on include the history of Dutch immigration, the assisted immigrants scheme, assimilation and the contributions that the Dutch have made to New Zealand. Demographic studies and relevant bibliographies are also included. Printed material, including monographs, theses, conference papers, journal articles and newspaper articles that are available within New Zealand are descriptively annotated and classified. All subjects, titles, and authors from annotated citations are indexed. A list of Dutch periodicals appears in the appendix. People who may find the work useful include genealogists, government officials, historians, journalists, scholars of sociology, linguistics, women's studies, teachers and senior secondary students and the layperson endeavouring to learn more about the Dutch immigration to New Zealand within the timeframe of the bibliography.
