Abstract:
An annotated bibliography arises out of a need to collate and contextualise bibliographic resources to fill a gap in knowledge. This gap is not always a gap in knowledge of the broad concepts of the content, but in providing a both a finding aid to, and a synthesis of, references that have become diffuse.
With this bibliography arising out of a need for the world's foremost authority on the Blue Duck the gap in knowledge is undisputable. For the benefit of research into the avifauna of New Zealand with the exception of the Kakapo (CIT) there is a dearth of bibliographic collation and there is a need for similar work on many species that currently are the focus of conservation and ecological research. Thus this bibliography will on a selective basis collate material relating to the specific species of Hymenolaimus malacorhynchos thus creating a unique information resource.
