Abstract:
The following research project (Survey of a University Library's Subject Web Resources) attempts to seek feedback from Academic staff of selected departments on the University of Canterbury Library's Web-based subject resource pages. These pages These pages aim to direct Academic University staff and students in particular, to key World Wide Web resources in their chosen subject area. These pages work as a directory for key resources and act as a springboard to the rest of the World Wide Web(WWW). The method of collecting feedback used in this research is by way of a questionnaire. The questionnaire aims to determine the levels of Academic staff use of the World Wide Web, their awareness and level of use of the Library's Web site. Finally, the questionnaire asks Academic staffto rate the University of Canterbury Library's Web-based subject resource pages, something which to date has not been done. Conclusions drawn from this research are guarded because of a low response rate. However, a number of trends have emerged from those who did respond. Recommendations are included for the University Library to consider for future research.
