Abstract

Records management literature for the years 1995, 2000 and 2005 was examined using descriptive bibliometric and content analysis techniques to establish if the quality and quantity of the literature was becoming more scholarly. The findings indicate that there is growth in the number of papers being published, growth in the number of papers with a type of research, and growth in thevnumber of peer-reviewed papers. Evidence from the analysis of affiliation of authors found an increasing number of academics publishing. These findings indicate that records management is moving a step beyond the definition of profession to a scholarly discipline.
