Select bibliography of writings about Jack Body and his compositions between 1965 and 2000

Abstract

Jack Body, one of New Zealand's most prolific composers, has not received comprehensive coverage in previous music specific bibliographies. Such bibliographies, while focusing on New Zealand compositions and New Zealand music in general, do not concentrate on any particular composer. This bibliography attempts to address a need for a bibliography relating specifically to Jack Body and his compositions. The primary objectives guiding this bibliographic research were to enable access to textual publications, so as to assist in filling the knowledge gap concerning information about Jack Body's musical and artistic achievements. A variety of textual publications were examined in the processes of this research, ranging from newspapers to reference works and encyclopaedias. Citations for relevant sources, offering sufficient informational comment about Jack Body's career and music, are presented chronologically and supplemented with annotations summarising the content of each item. This bibliography is intended to provide assistance to researchers, students, and interested non-academic users.
