Abstract

This paper deals with the problem of page ranking of search engines. In the first chapter the author points out some background information back about search engines and the role they have in the information society. In particular, he focuses on the problems that exist with regard to search ranking. The following chapter analyses the legal framework of the United States with as regard the ranking of search engines. He concludes, that the current system is not sufficient to solve the existing problems. In the last chapter. The author examines and criticizes several proposals for regulating search. He then describes his own approach to regulate search and proposes the introduction of a certification mark for search engines.
