Abstract:
Neutron monitor piles have been used to record cosmic radiation intensity changes for the twelve month period August, 1956 - July, 1957. From these records 27-day variations have been identified and an attempt made to explain their origin. An investigation of diurnal variation has yielded nothing of statistical significance but has suggested a diurnal variation with a maximum at about 1400 hour N.Z.M.T. A suggestion of a slight increases at impact zone times has also been found.
Investigation of neutron multiplicity in the monitor pile has indicated that an average of 8 neutrons are created per event.
