Abstract:
Small outdoor public spaces are important and relevant to Architecture in general. This report is a study of such public spaces. It is divided into two parts:
Part One, in which ten spaces from around the country are analysed in terms of dimensions, characteristics, and environment, and described by photographs, a plan map and a short analytical summary.
Part Two is a broad coverage of factors and ideas concerning public spaces with references to examples from part one.
This report aims to illuminate existing problems and features in urban spaces, and to discuss elements and concepts relevant to producing more successful urban spaces.
