Abstract:
This research report is about the approaches of architecture in relating buildings to their surroundings.
It introduces 'context' and discusses its relevance in terms of architecture.
From here various ideologies of architects are identified and used to categorize the different approaches to context.
A list of primary concerns for context are established.
Brought together in the form of case studies are the approaches and concerns. These show that successful interweaving of architecture in context is necessary to maintain familiarities of environments.
It finishes with a series of statements, on how I think architecture can successfully interweave with its surroundings.
