Abstract:
Repertory Grids of four patients and two therapists, completed before and after a four-week period of group psychotherapy, were compared in order to evaluate the change which had occurred during therapy. Several scores derived from an analysis of individual grids were compared, including those found sensitive to change during therapy in previous research. In addition, pre- and post-therapy scores on two questionnaires measuring social anxiety were compared. All measures used gave some indication of change in the desired direction, but overall change for the subjects collectively was moderate. Reasons for this finding and changes apparent from individuals' pairs of grids are considered. The use of Repertory Grids in research for monitoring changes during therapy for individuals and for groups is discussed.
