Abstract:
Semiconductor Counters have been used to detect the 800 keV Helium3 ions emitted from the D(d,n)He 3 reaction, in the presence of a high flux of 100 keV scattered deuterons. The coincident associated particle technique has been applied to the measurement of neutron detection efficiency in a plastic scintillator at 2.45 MeV, and the importance of a number of corrections evaluated. The angular distribution of neutrons associated with a given Helium3 direction has been calculated for the case of a thick self-loading gold target, and demonstrated experimentally.
