The cultural landscape of West Oakland: an investigation into the interrelationship between infrastructure and race, migration and ethnicity in the American city

Abstract

The project investigates a site in California, where, in the authors opinion, a major transformation of the environment has occurred in the space of fifty or sixty years. The author believes a large part of the story is related to the changing nature of infrastructure and its relationship to the patterns of settlement, race and class.
