Through the door: programming for the design of child-care facilities for Pacific Island families

Abstract

The purpose of this research report is to provide a programme for the design of child-care facilities particularly for Pacific Island families. Tentative design notions have been formulated based on evaluation of Pacific Island attitudes with reference to: 1 women's motivation to work and caring for young children 2 Concepts of early childhood education 3 Pacific Island cultural patterns that influence their relationship to buildings.
