Abstract:
This thesis is a bibliographic study of Middle Scots dream poetry from 1424 to those works included in the Bannatyne Manuscript (1568) and Maitland Folio (1570). Each entry contains details of the poem, a short discussion of the content, a summary of previous critical interpretations and a bibliography of critical works.
The introduction briefly discusses the popularity of the dream poem and the critical debate on whether dream poems constitute a separate genre.
