Abstract:
The aims and objectives of this Study are to depict a general view of the New Zealand Fruit and Vegetable Processing Industry, to measure its real gross or net productivity of factor input used and its technical progress, to explore the structures of its production, prices and consumption, and to make some comparisons in the field of production, prices and technology of this industry between New Zealand and Australia. Some projections will be made in the last chapter.
The year 1951/2 is taken as the initial year because in this year the industries of the Industrial Production Statistics (I.P.S.) are re-classified on the basis of the United Nations Standard International Classification (U.N.S.I.C.). 1968/9 is chosen as the last year simply because it was the latest report of I.P.S. published at the time it was being studied.
