Abstract:
Much valuable, detailed information about the organisation and day-to-day business of the Stationers' Company of London is contained within the attached transcript of 'Liber A', a volume of the Company's records for the period 1559-1791. However, in addition to documenting the careers of individual Stationers and the administration of the Company as a whole, 'Liber A' also provides detailed evidence concerning the wider political sphere. It illustrates the interaction between the local and national administrations, and thus is of interest to any historian of the period in question. This index of people, places and subjects is intended to provide all users with immediate access to the contents of the volume.
