dc.description.abstract	The aim of this section of the thesis was to determine the colouring matter of the Pohutukawa stamens. At the time this topic was begun my supervisor and I believed that the compound or compounds responsible for the vivid crimson colour of the stamens had not been determined and it was not until I had completed the work that we found that R.C. Combie and R.N. Seelye had already done it some time before. R.C. Combie and R.N. Seelye - N.Z.J.Sc. 4 189 (1961) In summary it can only be said that the work done has been to confirm that of Combie and Seelye.	en_NZ
