Abstract
Many organophosphorus compounds have been developed for insecticidal use (l) since the publication of Schrader's work. (2, 3.)
Organophosphorus insecticides are in the main nonspecific in their action, exhibiting similar toxicity towards mammals and insects. The wide variations that are possible in the chemical structure of organophosphorus compounds has lead to the development of many insecticides having widely varying degrees of selectivity, however a reduction in mammalian toxicity is often accompanied by a reduced insecticidal activity.
