Abstract:
This work reports the results of a three year research project, concerned with the theory of RC transmission lines. The main results reported are a generalisation of the theory of a class of distributed networks with rational admittences, first discovered by K. W. Heizer. The generalisation is to the class of non-uniform lines, which may thus be described as 'Non-uniform RC transmission lines with rational immittances'. It is show that this general theory to a synthesis procedure for driving-point admittances, and it is argued that this procedure is a 'practical' method of realising the networks referred to. In order to demonstrate the procedure computer programs are described which permit semi-automatic design of these networks.
