Abstract

Since the early nineteenth century, crime fiction has since become extremely popular and the genre had grown into multiple subgenres. Some of the more common subgenres are – • “whodunit” fiction which is the most common form and it provides the readers with clues that would eventually reveal the crime • legal thrillers - where characters are usually lawyers or policemen • inverted detectives - where the plot reveals the criminal at the beginning and then the story works back to it
