This study investigates the impact the pandemic has had on the demand central Christchurch residents have for services at Tūranga, the city’s main library which is located in Cathedral Square. A survey attracted 103 respondents who live in the inner city and the results suggest changes in demand from inner-city residents. These results are discussed under the lens of motivation theory with written comments from the respondents used to shed further light on their quantitatively-expressed preferences. Proposed responses to the results include adjusting the marketing of community events and the use of motivation theory concepts and practice when assisting unemployed customers at Tūranga.pdfen-NZTūrangaCOVID-19motivationInvestigating customer demand at Tūranga in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdownTextINFO580
