The thesis is based mainly on personal observation on the field. Statistics compiled and issued by the Central Statistical Office in Salisbury; the Southern Rhodesia Government Reports; and the publications of the Rhodes-Livingstone Institute, Lusaka, provided the major sources of material used in this work.
