Eight in-depth interviews were carried out with participants whose interest in attending sales ranged from twenty to five years. Findings highlighted the play potential in garage sale participation and suggested reasons for its prominence as a cultural phenomenon. It is hoped that this study will inspire further research on the topic in leisure studies and other areas of social science.pdfen-NZGarage salesLeisureRecreationGarage sale participation in the context of playText
