Today, it can be used confidently by designers for various types of applications. This opportunity can be attributed to the development of modern technology which refines the fabrication technique as well as the materials which are used in glulam. However, there are still some factors which if not recognised and accepted, may deny the full potential of glulam. The fabrication process to a certain extent dictates its strengths and weaknesses. These properties must be responded to in designing a glulam structure, especially with respect to its joints where load concentration occurs. Similarly, the development of glulam as a structural material should evolve around using its strongest properties and accepting its weaknesses.pdfen-NZLaminated wood testingArchitectureStructural performance of glulamText
