Abstract
Urban fabric finds cohesion in the relationships formed within between districts, suburbs, streets and buildings. Architecture will always have some effect on the surrounding context, so, to establish relationships, context needs to be expressed in some way within the architecture itself. The extent of that expression will be different to every situation and architect. Any result can be subjectively judged and that which works well in one instance may not elsewhere. It is up to the architect to form an appropriate design response, influenced by an awareness of common contextual issues and approaches.
