Future model for private law libraries

Abstract

This research project examined published material from the disciplines of Legal Practice and Library and Information Science in order to identify trends occurring within both fields in order to design an appropriate framework for a future model for Private Law Libraries. Content Analysis was employed as the research methodology. The research identified driving factors influencing private law librarianship including: digital technology, increased competitiveness in the legal marketplace and globalisation. The research also identified new directions for Private Law Libraries including; Knowledge Management, Web-development and business development. It also investigated the future physical structure of the library.
