Cosmic time, tachyons and the aether

Abstract

The thesis looks at the related concepts of Cosmic Time and the (new) Aether. These are used to facilitate discussions concerning Tachyons and their implications for causality violations and also to discuss a suitable splitting of "Spacetime" into "Space" and "Time". Considerable attention is given to the mathematical structures required for the formulation of these results.
