dc.description.abstract | New Zealand's heritage is something to value and preserve. It connects present and future communities with the country's past, fostering identity and a sense of place. Government policies are set in place which identify heritage sites, and seek to protect and preserve them. The Tauranga City District Plan contains lists of identified heritage sites in the region, many of which reflect the cultural, spiritual, and historical heritage of both Maori and non-Maori settlement in the area. This bibliography focusses on the built heritage in Tauranga, including any building or structure listed in the heritage register for the region. The bibliography identifies relevant resources on the built heritage sites, and provides enhanced access to the information in the resources. This enhanced access is achieved through the co-location of references, the commentary annotations, and indexes to the content of the bibliography. It is envisaged that such an information resource will be of use for a range of research needs, as well as in promoting an interest in and concern for New Zealand heritage. | en_NZ |
