| dc.description.abstract | This paper discusses the current issues surrounding the use of Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) in New Zealand and proposes a number of changes to the legal framework. Recommendations include an amendment to the Human Assisted Reproductive Technology Act 2004, changes to the established procedures listed in the Human Assisted Reproductive Order 2005 and modification of some of the Guidelines restricting the use of PGD. These recommendations take into account competing principles and the range of views on this use of Assisted Reproductive Technology, while maintaining that the most important consideration is an individual’s right to reproductive liberty. | en_NZ |
