dc.description.abstract | This report investigates the many uses scaled 3D architectural models are able to be used for and then correlates to what extent these uses are presently being adopted in New Zealand architectural practices. The report focuses mainly on the use of models as a design and communication tool though alternative methods are also surveyed. The research into the use of models finds that the basic use of architectural models is that of communication. Communication to the client/interested bodies and communication to the designer and working colleagues. For the client the model is a means of understanding the design concept by providing a greater ability to associate the model with reality. For the designer, the model gives an opportunity to study a project in a truly three-dimensional form and thereby obtain a more comprehensive and visual appreciation of the project. | en_NZ |
