This report gives an outline guide to the architect, or interior designer on the effective use of plants inside buildings. It is structured so as to give the reader; a basic working knowledge of plants and their requirements (which is essential if any planting scheme is to work); an indication of how to design for and with plants; and an outline on how to keep the interior plantscape functioning well. There is an emphasis placed upon the negative aspects that can cause the downfall of part or all of a planting scheme. This negative approach is followed through in a case study of one of New Zealand's first major pieces of large scale interior planting. By pointing out the bad points of a fairly well thought out scheme, it can be seen just how difficult interior planting can be.en_NZ
