A Study of the ethoxide-hydroxide equilibrium in ethanol-water mixtures

Abstract

The reaction was investigated. Specific rates were determined in various ethanol-water mixtures; also the product proportions were determined. It was shown that ion-pairing most likely occurred in the more ethanolic media, but no accurate estimate of the extent of this could be determined.
