'Encountering the Lost Perception' attained its title and theme through exploring and encapsulating certain aspects of humans' perception of imagination along with the concept of avant-garde. The concept of avant-garde was scrutinized through a film media, Pan's Labyrinth, to facilitate the innovative approach in redesigning Paramount cinema. The Paramount is foreseen to be Wellington city's exclusive cinema that presents an innovative vision towards patrons' cinematic experiences. The aspiration of 'Encountering the Lost Perception' is to reunite Paramount cinema's imaginative and artistic personalities with its estranged architecture, allowing them to communicate and generate spaces that compromise with Courtenay Place in terms of technological advancement. However, the value of its cinematography will not be renounced to the superficial mass culture of Courtenay Place. The experience of being within the new Paramount Cinema design conforms to the configuration of the matrix. It is a journey that experiments with the humans' minds power of the imagination throughout sequentially stages of life. It symbolizes the voyage of life through the existing programs that it accommodates representing humans' experience throughout their journey of life from juvenile to settled and wise. The boundary that the façade substantially created is no longer a barrier but a transition, which overcomes the dichotomy of the inside and the outside. Even though the discovery throughout the journey is the most fascinating aspect of imagination but the relationship of reality and imaginary are undeniably inseparable. (It is vital for patrons to not abandon the reality. Both must be aware of as fantasy can reflect reality. A labyrinth is devised by men, a labyrinth destined to be deciphered by men. The 'Encountering the Lost Perception' design will enable the patrons (travelers) to experiment and be conscious of the external reality, while reuniting with their creative side from their childhood through their cinematic experiences. To discover through this ephemeral journey the ability of human's imagination whilst being simultaneously aware of, and engaging with, reality. 'Encountering the Lost Perception' creates and welcomes a new energy; a fresh approach towards entertainment cultures in Courtenay Place, which encaptures the essence of the past.
