dc.description.abstract | This is a critical essay that examines the feasibility of a fee-based Current Awareness Service (CAS) in public libraries. New technological concepts and products have provided ways in which CAS can be offered in a public library without requiring tremendous resources. The implications of implementing a fee-based CAS are discussed. The paper provides a guideline for determining if CAS is feasible for public libraries. It surveys the literature for recommendations on ways to determine reasonable fees for Current Awareness Services. | en_NZ |
