Abstract
This thesis describes linkage between the Pacific Islands, and from the Islands to the Pacific Rim countries, with special reference to linkage associated with food supply.
The focus of the study is first to define the problems of food supply in the Islands, and the practical realities which limit the choice of solutions. It is then to recommend a possible solution in terms of increased linkage, and the membership of the region to which it would best apply.
My thesis is that it is possible to establish a level of integration which will benefit the existing problems of food supply in the Islands, without increasing the costs already associated with dependency on the developed countries. That such integration will also be of a form to facilitate eventual linkage to the Pacific Basin Community.
