dc.description.abstract | This research assignment investigates the architectural ideas of Paul Pascoe (1908-1976) from Christchurch. It reflects on the search for some form of domestic vernacular architecture and suggests that the driving forces of Pascoe are particularly relevant to the continuing development of a unique New Zealand way of building houses. Through analysis of Pascoe's writing, his archives, two built case studies, and information provided by his son I have concluded that the driving forces behind Paul Pascoe's work are: » Economy » Innovation » Modesty » Honesty » Utility | en_NZ |
