Living on the queen's chain

Abstract

As this quotation suggests, there is something that attracts people to the edge of land and sea - some special quality that only this area has. The 'edge of the sea' in New Zealand is protected from any private development, in the form private Dwellings, by legislation - it is the Queen's Chain reserve. In the past however, private Dwellings were built on the Queen's Chain, but these are now being removed from their unique site.
