Abstract
Walls are an element in the language of architecture. They give form to space, by enclosing or dividing a larger space. The perception of wall as enclosure and divider is through a physical or intellectual experience.
Walls have been used by architects in contemporary architecture to articulate radically different spatial experiences. This is only possible because the wall possesses timeless spatial and visual qualities. What varies in each work of architecture is the articulation and meaning of the wall and therefore the experience.
