Abstract
When I began this report I listed as my basic assumption that wall art in New Zealand can and should play a valuable role in society by providing beauty, interest and social comment in public spaces. Now, over a year of research later, I feel that this still applies except that I would state it more forcefully.
I feel there is an enormous potential for exterior wall art in New Zealand and that this potential has barely begun to be realized. In my report I have tried to give a fair representation of what is happening in this country and indicated just a few of the possibilities. I hope that you will agree with my views or at least enjoy the photographs, and watch out for murals in your neighbourhood. Better still paint one of your own.
