A survey of preschool educational services in New Zealand

Abstract

Because of the loss or destruction of records pertaining to the early history of the free kindergartens, it has not been possible to write an accurate history of the movement. This survey therefore covers the provision of preschool educational services as they are now with reference to the origin of their various features as far as the available records relate them. It covers only those preschool services which are "recognised" by the Minister or Director of Education, that is, the Free Kindergartens and the Play Centres.
