This thesis studies the interaction of regulation and organisation in New Zealand alcoholic beverage markets. It discusses why these markets were regulated, and the form of regulation. An important outcome of regulation was the erection of barriers to entry. Its impact on market organisation is analysed. This is followed by analyses of the rationales for three forms of organisation present in New Zealand alcoholic beverage markets, namely vertical integration, horizontal integration, and exclusive dealing. The competitive aspects of these organisational forms are highlighted.en_NZ
