Abstract
The Wellington population of gulls was studied, with particular reference to the colony on Somes Island. Calls and postures, general behaviour, and the breeding cycle have been described, and analyses of food summarised. Fluctuations of the Wellington population, and mortality and dispersal of banded fledglings and older birds have been discussed. Weights, standard measurements and measurements of the bursa of Fabricius, as well as growth and seasonal changes of gonads and soft parts have been outlined for immature and adult birds.
