This essay is divided into three sections. The first is a literature review that analyses the problems facing public libraries wishing to implement Internet training for their reference staff. The middle section is a proposed list of skills that librarians should develop to be able to function efficiently when usign the Internet. The final section attempts to find ways libraries might overcome some of the problems faced in the first section, so the skills in the second section might be fully achieved.en_NZ
