The objectives of the report were to discover what High Tech architecture is, and from what it has originated. In doing so it looks at what has had an influence on the current movement and determined what are the principle points which distinguish this type of architecture from others. It also includes a brief discussion on the architects who practise this style, and some examples of their buildings, including an explanation about what specifically makes them High Tech. The report ends with a summary of the findings, as well as a debate about its merits and disadvantages. These include the fact that it is a movement of an isolated nature. Particularly because of its peculiarly British following, and very small band of exponents. They are a very close knit group due to the fact that they have all worked together at some stage in their respective careers. Further to this point of its isolated nature, is the way in which it purports to practice a style of architecture which is based on a series of principles. Yet here the so-called honesty ends, as in nearly all cases these principles are only met in theory, not practice. It therefore seems reasonable to question the validity and future of a movement which is based on unattainable theories.en_NZ
