Abstract

Art and architecture have an intertwined relationship that has always been divided by a wall in my mind. I know architecture is art yet during my time at university I have struggled to articulate architecture as easily as I have conceived and completed paintings, sculptures or drawings. The architectural space just never flowed from my hand as freely as the pigment on the end of a paint brush. This thesis is the documented attempt to break down that wall and connect my inner artist with my inner architect. In the end I have discovered that this will be a journey that I will walk for a long time. However I did find a new way for me start crossing the boundaries between art and architecture, drawings and space. This is something that I will continue to investigate and hopefully will prove fruitful as my understanding of architecture, who I am, and the fundamentals space continues to grow.
